26 Feb Saggas unloaded 1.79 million tons of LNG in 2024
The unloadings carried out at the plant represent 14.1% of the total LNG unloaded in the Spanish gas system last year.
During the 2024 fiscal year, the Sagunto regasification plant produced a total of 26,675 GWh. The plant unloaded 1.79 million tons of LNG, accounting for 14.1% of the total unloaded in the Spanish gas system. Additionally, in 2024, Saggas regasified and injected 21,482 GWh into the pipeline network.
Over the past year, the plant unloaded 32 vessels from 6 different countries, with the largest share coming from the United States (38% of the total), followed by Nigeria (25.7%) and Algeria (24.3%). The remaining LNG unloaded at Saggas came from Russia (7.6%), Qatar (3.2%), and Trinidad and Tobago (1.2%).
The plant also loaded nearly 193,000 tons of LNG — equivalent to 2,945 GWh — onto 6 LNG carriers. Saggas also performed loading operations for 7,979 tanker trucks, totaling over 147,000 tons.
Furthermore, in 2024, the plant signed a memorandum of understanding with the Port Authority of Valencia to collaborate on identifying innovation and development projects related to renewable gases and CO₂, aimed at meeting the decarbonization needs of the maritime-port sector.
