Saggas unloads the 1,000th LNG carrier in its history

In total, the plant has unloaded 725,006 GWh of energy.

Saggas has completed the unloading of the LNG carrier Hellas Athina, marking the 1,000th vessel since the plant began operations in 2006. The ship, arriving from the United States, unloaded 7,745 m³ of LNG at the Sagunto regasification plant. To celebrate this milestone, the president of the Valencia Port Authority, Mar Chao, and the general manager of Saggas, Santiago Álvarez, presented a commemorative plaque to the ship’s captain, Ivica Bozic.

Since the plant began commercial operations, Saggas has unloaded approximately 173.5 million cubic meters of LNG, equivalent to 725,006 GWh of energy. The plant has received liquefied natural gas from 21 different countries, with Algeria, Nigeria, and the United States being the main suppliers.

These figures reinforce the plant’s role as a key energy infrastructure. During this period, Saggas has provided uninterrupted service, helping to ensure the supply of natural gas to the national gas system, and particularly to a high-demand area such as the Valencian Community.
