Saggas launches bioLNG loading service

The company has obtained ISCC EU certification, which confirms that the management of biofuels is carried out sustainably and with full traceability.

Saggas has launched its bioLNG loading service, aimed at contributing to the decarbonization of the transport sector. This service allows tanker trucks and vessels loaded at the plant to certify that the liquefied natural gas is wholly or partially bioLNG through the issuance of sustainability proofs.

Although the biomethane is injected into the gas grid at other locations, a recognized traceability system and standardized performance ensure that the bioLNG loaded at Saggas is of renewable origin.

To implement this service, Saggas obtained ISCC EU (International Sustainability and Carbon Certification) certification, which guarantees that the plant manages biofuels in a sustainable and traceable manner. This certification also makes it possible to track the origin, processing, and destination of the biofuel, ensuring minimal environmental and social impact.

Furthermore, this certification allows specific emissions to be associated with the bioLNG based on its origin and destination, ensuring that the entire process complies with the sustainability requirements defined by the Renewable Energy Directive.
